Description: On this hike we'll get to walk around or along 4 of Mt. Tam's 5 lakes. We'll start from the main parking area for Bon Tempe Dam. After crossing he dam we'll stay on the Shadyside Trail along Bon Tempe Lake. We'll then cross over Lake Lagunitas Dam, and then Pilot's Knob. We'll head over to Tucker Camp, down Tucker Trail and then along Bill Williams Creek. Then we'll hike along the southern side of Phoenix Lake and back up to Bon Tempe. We'll head back to the cars along the Sunnyside Trail. This is a pretty spectacular route - especially for mid summer. We'll pass redwoods, firs, oaks, bays and tons of Madrones. Most of the trails we'll be on aren't overly well traveled.
All of the trails are maintained by the Water District. Almost all of them will be in the shade but we'll peek out into the sun from time to time. There are a couple of somewhat stiff uphills but nothing too terribly difficult.
Bring / Wear: Bring LOTS of water - more than you think you'll drink, sturdy hiking shoes, sunscreen, lunch and snacks.
Rain Policy: Hike will take place rain or shine.

Alternate Meeting Place #1:
We'll stop at the Fairfax Parkade in order to carpool to the trailhead. Entry fee is $8. We'll arrive at the Parkade around 9:45 and plan on leaving by 10. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU PLAN ON MEETING US THERE. If you're coming from the East or North Bay, take the Central San Rafael exit and go west for 2 miles to the "hub" in San Anselmo, then turn left for another 2 miles to the Fairfax Parkade (a 1-block long parking area between Broadway and Sir Francis Drake). If you are heading north on 101 take the San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake exit off 101. Then it's about 3 miles to the "hub" and 2 more miles to the Parkade. Enter into Google Maps '9 Broadway St, Fairfax' to find the Parkade. That will point you to the movie theater which is directly across from the east end of the lot where we'll meet.
